"We, the members of The Delta Chi Fraternity, believing that great advantages are to be derived from a brotherhood of college and university men, appreciating that close association may promote friendship, develop character, advance justice, and assist in the acquisition of a sound education, do ordain and establish this Constitution." - The Delta Chi Preamble In 1890, eleven law students at Cornell University formed a Law Fraternity, which they called Delta Chi. In 1922, the fraternity went "general", thus opening its membership to men in all areas of study. Today there are 131 Delta Chi chapters and colonies throughout the United States and Canada with just over 96,000 initiates. The Stephen F. Austin State University Chapter of Delta Chi became a colony in 1999 and was officially chartered in 2002. Becoming a member of Delta Chi is more than just becoming part of a club. It provides you with the opportunity to be involved with an international brotherhood spanning 119 years, to refine your personal and social skills, to develop a sense of belonging and fellowship in a college environment, and to jump-start your success after college. We are constantly looking for men who possess the qualities that we believe will help in carrying on the traditions, honor, and values of The Delta Chi Fraternity. Here, you will meet guys who are just like you: they like to have fun, are serious about college, and want to succeed. Like any fraternity, we work hard and we know how to have fun, but where you can just be a number with other fraternities at SFA, you can be a brother with Delta Chi.
